Marsh Funnel and Mug
Viscosity is a measurement relating to the flow properties of fluids. The FV-Funnel Viscosity test indicates changes in fluid properties, with measurements taken and recorded on hourly basis. The marsh funnel is a device routinely used to check fluid viscosity at the site. The marsh funnel is conical in shape; 152 mm in diameter at the top and 305 mm long with a capacity of 1500 ml. A 12 mesh screen covers half of the top designed to remove foreign matter and drill cuttings from the drilling mud. The fluid runs through a fixed orifice at the bottom of the funnel and is collected in the mug. The Measuring Cup is graduated in fluid ounces (2 – 32 oz) and cubic centimeters (100 – 1,000 cc) and is designed to be used with the Marsh Funnel Viscometer. The heavy-duty plastic measuring cup features two scales molded into the inside of the cup for convenience.
Sand Content Kit
The Sand Content Kit is a simple and accurate sieve analysis tool used to determine the sand content of drilling fluids.
Viscometer
V-G meter or also known as a direct-indicating viscometer, is an instrument used to measure the viscosity and gel strength of drilling mud. The direct-indicating viscometer is a rotational cylinder and bob instrument. Two speeds of rotation, 300 and 600 rpm, are available in all instruments, but some are 6- or variable-speed. It is called “direct-indicating” because, at a given speed, the dial reading is a true centipoise viscosity.
